Now, here's the key: If your software version starts with P, Q, R, S, U, V, W, X, or Y, unfortunately, USB coding won't work. You'll need to choose the cable coding version.

For versions starting with any letter preceding P (in alphabetical order), both USB and cable coding are applicable.

It worked!!

Only given 4 stars, as windows 11 PC didn’t like the link. Help wasn’t amazing, but it was rapid. Ended up transfering download file via iMac. Used Windows 10 on intel MacBook to ’talk’ with car.

Instructions could have been a little clearer… Once code is sorted, car needs to be switched off and locked for ten minutes. After which you should delete and reconnect iPhone, using the telephone option (NOT CARPLAY) it will then offer the choice halfway through to allow CarPlay.

However, it DID work, after several emails to BMW mini who categorically told me my car was incapable of using CarPlay. Early 2017 Countryman with 8.8” touchscreen.

Great!! It works!!

I activated my BMW X4 with Apple CarPlay. It’s really ease, just connect an enet cable from the OBD to the laptop and follow the instructions provided, all worked fine! Many thanks!!
